Student-Directed Learning

Welcome to the new and improved class website. Despite having a great set of tools in Blackboard I have decided that we can do more with a stand-alone site. We will still use Blackboard for certain taks, but the new Class site will help me to provide you with even more resources, so you can improve. Plus it looks nice and gives me something to do in the evenings.

Something I'm really enthusiatic about, as a teacher, is removing barriers to student success. Something that really used to limit students' success in the past was access to teacher time. Time with your teacher is still important, but today there are always opportunities for you to learn on your own. With this site I will try to aggregate as many of the best resources as possible, so that you will be able to make the best use of your time --both in class time and outside of it. 

Churchill said that continuous effort is the real key to our success, not strength or intelligence or who you know. Keep pushing and you'll get where you want to go.

As always, please let me know if you can think of anything that might help you to succeed. In the mean time I hope this is useful to you. If you'd like to know more about how to improve, I've written a an article about it on my blog. There are definitely some tricks you an employ to better your chances of success and talent has nothing to do with it.
