1. Please read this bril­liant expla­na­tion of how to write a good extended essay and a good inter­nal assess­ment.

2. (Updated/Changed) You will be hav­ing your next major test now on Fri­day, Sep­tem­ber 9th. This will be an essay ques­tion (25 marks). Some peo­ple were going to be away for the test, so we’ve changed it for everyone.

6. Please read this post on answer­ing Data Response Ques­tions before Friday’s lesson.

7. Please work on this in class on Monday’s les­son. Please com­plete the fol­low­ing task, for Wednes­day, Sept 21st. (1) Bring in an inter­est­ing eco­nom­ics arti­cle. (2) Find a word in the arti­cle that you gen­uinely dodn’t know the proper mean­ing of (it can be any word at all –even if it’s not an ‘eco­nom­ics word’), look up the def­i­n­i­tion and be ready to explain that word to the class. (3) Write down a good ques­tion that you could ask about your arti­cle –some­thing that maybe isn’t dis­cussed in the arti­cle, but that you could research fur­ther. You will ask your ques­tion in class and maybe use it to have a class dis­cus­sion (to hope­fully have some inter­est­ing con­ver­sa­tions). (4) On Tues­day, bring in hard copies of your arti­cle, your defined word and your ques­tion for us to use in class.

6. Please read this note about the parent-teacher con­fer­ences. I hope you are able to attend them your­self. I won’t actu­ally get to see you this week because Period 6 is can­celled this week. I would still like you to fill in the reflec­tion sheet (which is attached to the note). How­ever, you don’t need to do it this week. You can do it (and put it into your file, with your other ones) this week if you want, but if you don’t have time we’ll do it in class next week.

August

1. Work on get­ting your IA’s done. As I told you in June, these are due in the sec­ond week back. Your IA will be due on the Wednes­day, August 17th.

2. Please con­sider adding the NPR Planet Money Pod­cast (Link here) or if that doesn’t work, click here) to your iTunes pod­casts. They are full of great exam­ples and very rel­e­vant to our course.

3. Cur­rently your first major test is sched­uled for August 25th (Chap­ters 22 and 23) and your sec­ond major test is sched­uled for Sep­tem­ber 8th (Chap­ters 24 and 25).

4. Chap­ter 22 notes are due at the end of next week (Fri­day the 19th) and your Chap­ter 23 notes are due Mon­day, August 22nd.

5. Also, some of you still have your eco­nom­ics pre­sen­ta­tion to do. This will be part of your Q1 grade. I expect you to orga­nize these and present them dur­ing the week of August 22nd. –prefer­ably on August 24th, after the test.

6. Chap­ter 24 notes are due Fri­day the 26th and your Chap­ter 25 notes are due just three days later, on Wednes­day, August 31th.
