Note: All home­work is due at the begin­ning of class on the day men­tioned. Home­work is not accepted dur­ing class. You must com­plete all home­work assigned in class and always have all notes and home­work with you in class.

March

Chap­ter 23 notes on Wednes­day, March 28th.

Chap­ter 24 notes on Wednes­day, April 11th.

Chap­ter 25 notes on Wednes­day, April 18th.

2) Ques­tions 14.3, 14.4 (b) and 14.6 (b) are due on Wednes­day, March 21st.

Jan­u­ary

1) Please com­plete your chap­ter notes on the fol­low­ing days:

2) You will be pre­sent­ing your busi­ness pre­sen­ta­tions in class on Wednes­day, Jan­u­ary 11th.

3) Please revise for your next Busi­ness test, on Wednes­day, Jan­u­ary 18th. You will also get a lit­tle bit of class time on Tues­day to revise for this.

Sep­tem­ber

1. (Revised/updated) Sorry we didn’t get a chance to go over these yet (UN prepa­ra­tion). Please keep bring your arti­cle to class next Tues­day (Sept 20th) and be ready to present that day as well. Please com­plete the fol­low­ing home­work task, for Tues­day. INDIVIDUALLY

(1) Bring in an arti­cle that you think is a very good exam­ple of some­thing that we’ve cov­ered in class, or just another inter­est­ing busi­ness article

(2) Put a link to the arti­cle on the course ‘glos­sary’ (here) (like this: “Here is an arti­cle that relates to lim­ited lia­bil­ity for cor­po­ra­tions (link here).” Don’t for­get to put your name beside the arti­cle you pro­vided, so we can know what a smar­tie you are.

(3) Find a word in the arti­cle that you gen­uinely don’t know the proper mean­ing of (it can be any word at all –even if it’s not a ‘busi­ness word’), look up the def­i­n­i­tion and be ready to explain that word to the class. If it is a busi­ness word you can put it in the glossary.

(4) Write down a good ques­tion that you could ask about your arti­cle –some­thing that maybe isn’t dis­cussed in the arti­cle, but that you could research fur­ther. You will ask your ques­tion in class and maybe use it to have a class dis­cus­sion (and find out what a smar­tie other peo­ple are). (5) On Mon­day, bring in hard copies of your arti­cle, your defined word and your ques­tion for us to use in class.

2. IN PAIRS In groups of two (some­one from a dif­fer­ent table, who you haven’t worked with yet) pre­pare a 4 minute pre­sen­ta­tion on a busi­ness of your choice. Each per­son should speak and use at least 6 key words from the course (each). Due Sept 20th. P.S. You can’t do Apple (too easy).

3.  INDIVIDUALLY (Revised/Updated) Your MYP task is due in class on Tues­day, Sep­tem­ber 20th. Please sub­mit it to Turnitin.com on Mon­day night (using your pass­word, etc –see August Home­work). This change is again due to the UN con­certs. You will still only get two classes to work on it, but you’ll get the extra week (until the 27th) to use if you need it.

4. Please read this note I’ve writ­ten you about how to write good notes.

5. Please read this note about how to eval­u­ate in Busi­ness. You will have to do a lit­tle of this in your MYP assign­ments and more of it in your IGCSE exams.

August

1. Read Chap­ter 1 and take your own notes on it (due Thurs­day, August 18th)

2. Read the course expec­ta­tions (link here) and add a Busi­ness Term to our class online glos­sary (link here) (due Wednes­day, August 18th). Make sure to put your name beside the entry you make in the glos­sary. (Also feel free to edit your class­mates’ entries or entries from pre­vi­ous years, as mis­takes in this dic­tio­nary will be common).

3. Chap­ter 2 notes are due next Wednes­day, August 24th.

4. Please sign on to our class’ Turnitin.com area.

First go to Turnitin.com

Look for our class Class ID: 4215207, Password: 9business. The class name is “Grade 9 Busi­ness (IGCSE-MYP)”

When you find our class, input your details (email, etc).

Now, when­ever there is an MYP assign­ment due, please upload a copy of your assign­ment to this site and also (of course) hand in a hard copy to me.

5. Your Chap­ter 1 and 2 comic assign­ment is due on Fri­day, August 26th. (You will be marked as fol­lows: 3 marks for cre­ativ­ity, 3 marks for your cor­rect use of 6 key words from the course and 2 marks for the wow fac­tor and neatness).

6. Your Chap­ter 3 notes are due on Wednes­day, August 31st.

7. Your test will be on Fri­day, Sep­tem­ber 2nd.
